Hello, this is TheTechBoy with a review of Floom.      Have you ever wanted to know what was under your feet? Do you wonder what worlds lie beyond your backyard? Have you ever wanted to dig a hole to China but did not have an excavator? If you answered yes to any of those questions, then this tool is for you.      Fun Fact: Contrary to popular belief, you can't dig a hole to China from the US.      Floom is an Android-only Google-made website that uses augmented reality, and location data to open portals into the ground. This tool is only supported in Chrome, but I tested the tool with my personal browser--Samsung Internet. It worked. Probably because the Browser is based on Chromium.   Floom worked well on Samsung Internet. Just make sure you give the browser access to your camera. Scan the ground for a little bit and tap the tornado-shaped...

This Week in TheTechBoy + Podcast Ep 4

Hello, this is TheTechBoy. This week I covered  MConverter Review: File Conversion Made Easy Will this file converter do the job for you?       MConverter.eu is a web app and extension that converts files and can compress PDFs. I use this tool to convert the graphics for my blog into webp format which also automatically compresses the image.    Podcast Summary:      The podcast covered MC converter and TheTechBoy's new advertisements. I also showed the MConverter showed the browser extension.  I briefly covered the Sony WI-C310 saying that there was some latency but it should be fine for music and video watching/listening. I also commended the headphones for having USB-C. I touched on opening portals to other lands with a phone and gave a first look at the Deepstech Endoscope I received. I also showed off my new LED lights. I also announced a special collaboration  and interview. Max Tech Studios was featured in the podcast....

MConverter Review: File Conversion Made Easy

Hello, this is TheTechBoy with a review of MConverter.      MConverter.eu   is a web app and extension that converts files and can compress PDFs.  I use this tool to convert the graphics for my blog into webp format which also automatically compresses the image.   Advertisements:      The tool is ad-supported. It can detect an adblocker on Samsung Internet but not on my laptop. The advertisements are on the borderline of being invasive, but at least it does not have pop-up adverts.  There is a way to pay a subscription for MConverter to bypass adverts and gain advanced features such as file history and file uploads of 1 GB. The free plan only allows 200 MB.  No account is needed for the free plan, but it is needed to access the advanced features. Web App:     The Web App is pretty easy to use. You can upload files to the server and the application will select the formats it can convert the file. It does this by highli...

TheTechBoy Recap + Podcast EP 3

Image
Hello, this is TheTechBoy with a live video podcast and the recap of what happened on TheTechBoy this week.       This week, we celebrated our 101st post  by unveiling our special 2-year anniversary image. The post we published was a review of Rojan desktop, a Desktop as a Service. This enterprise DAAS service allows anyone to access a Windows desktop.   Samsung Galaxy Unpacked: Flip or Fold? / Samsung Unpacked Graded: Iterative Updates      This week we also covered the Samsung Galaxy even and recapped it. I gave the ZFold 4 an A grade while giving the Z flip a B grade upgraded from my initial grade of a C. Go find out why in the post. Of course, we live-streamed the Samsung event. Check it out by clicking this link .  Motorola X30 Pro and Razr 2022 The next day, I recapped the Motorola Razr event. (It started very early so no live stream). I noted the improvements Motorola made to the Razr, and found the manufacturer...

iMobie FRP Unlock Review

Image
Hello, this is TheTechBoy with a review of iMobie Droid Kit FRP unlocker.       iMobie gave me this software for free to test out and I bought the FRP-locked Samsung A01 phone from eBay.  Good:  It worked as advertised Decent Price  Bad: Bad Instructions  Connection Problems FRP Unlock is Samsung Only      Downloading the software is easy; you just have to follow the prompts on the screen. Droid Kit will download a file and then tell the user to place the device into  Recovery mode. This is important as it helps you find out what version of software you have on the Samsung phone and allows you to factory data reset and reset cache.        Once you get through those steps, get to the input password/google account screen. Then press "Send Notification" on the Droid Kit screen.   Follow the onscreen prompts "click ok" and click allow/ok on the phone screen. This will take you to the Galaxy Store. Droi...

Motorola X30 Pro and Razr 2022

Image
Hello, this is TheTechBoy with a recap of the Motorola Razr 2022 and 200 MP camera phone reaction.      The Razr has a flagship chipset unlike the previous Razr's and it loses the lip of the last 2 Razrs and the original Razr V3. 😀 The dual camera also has support for RAW shooting. The cameras aren't the best, as it only has a 50 MP camera and a 13 MP wide-angle camera. The 13 MP camera has a larger field of view than the OnePlus 10T . The cover screen is a 2.7-inch screen. This is wider than the Z Flips   cover screen.       The Motorola X30 Pro. It uses a 200 MP Samsung sensor and a 125-watt charging speed. with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip. There is a 144hz refresh rate with a 6.7-inch screen. Both phones may not launch in the US.       These phones look nice and some may say that the Motorola may beat the Z Fold and S22 Ultra. However, Samsung has it beat on software support and support if you break your phone.  Tech T...

Samsung Unpacked Graded: Iterative Updates

Image
Hello, this is TheTechBoy with an Unpacked Reaction.   Z Flip4:      The Z Flip4 was underwhelming. The event touted existing features as new features like Flex Mode. Samsung also did not increase the cover display. It did get a partnership with Meta, but I expect the improvement to be delivered to the other Z devices in a software update. Also, there were no improvements to the durability of the design.    Update Changing Grade to B Because of processing and Battery Improvements.  Z Flip gets a B Galaxy Buds2 Pro     These Buds supposedly have better sound quality due to a custom codec that Samsung designed to deliver 24-bit audio. Samsung says this means more information will be transferred at this bit rate rather than the 16-bit rate. However, Samsung did not say if the special codeq will work with other devices. I am Giving these products a B. Galaxy Z Fold4     Samsung created a new hinge design and adds some new materials t...

Samsung Galaxy Unpacked: Flip or Fold?

Image
7:25:  Those Galaxy Unpacked look really nice. Remember to read to see new chats.  7:25:  'Over the horizon is playing' 7:30: It looks like the Z Flip will have a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.  8:02: Sam-sing? nope. Sounds like a name of a fake company in an audio drama.   8:04: Samsung Just said Flex is better than Flat.  8:06: Wow Samsung has been working on this for a long time. Also, my Bixby turned on during a Samsung event.  (No one even said Bixby) 8:08: Flex mode  for camera is being touted as a new feature. It is not.  8:10: Flex Mode is not New!! 8:12: The folding screen is being touted as a 'Digital Wellbeing Feature' so you can "stay in the moment."  8:14:  Bora Purple is in the S22   8:15: They did a video in the sand and it is not even dust resistant. Sad... 8:16: Duo is called Meet because of the merger. Nice job Samsung.  8:18: The Bespoke edition has 5 colors and 3 frames.    8:20: ...

The S22 Ultra is an insult to Ultra and Note Phones.

Image
Hello, this is TheTechBoy with a Special Report. Samsung has released the new S22 series. The S22 Ultra has been released and it, unfortunately, does not have a microSD card slot. The S22 Ultra is basically a Note replacement and an Ultra phone. This is an insult to the brother of the series.                                 Samsung Ultra phones are supposed to be the best of the best and show the best, non-foldable technology Samsung has to offer. The Samsung Note is supposed to showcase the best of Samsung's features, added with the extra productivity advantage of a large screen and an S-Pen. The S22 Ultra checks off some of the features: has a large screen, and the S-Pen, BUT IT DOES NOT HAVE A microSD CARD SLOT. For example, the S9+ has a 6.2-inch screen and a microSD card slot, but Note 9 had a 6.4-inch screen and an S-Pen for extra productivity features. The Note 20 Ultra also...

Rojan Desktop + Plus celebrating a major milestone.

Image
Hello, this is TheTechBoy with a review of the Citrix desktop as a service (DAAS).  This DAAS service allows anyone to access a Windows desktop on a PC or smartphone. The VDI I have access to has 8GB of RAM and 30 GB of storage.  It is running on a VMware interface. There is a client application for mobile and desktop applications that you have to install. The DAAS requires internet access to work; only one user can be logged in at a time.       This desktop interface is pretty snappy. I was able to log in to my TheTechBoy account and, I could type and I could browse, type, read emails pretty decently. Thunderbird worked, using WPS office to annotate PDFs and Google docs all loaded quickly. Libre Office also works as well. I ran a benchmark on Libre Office Calc and found that it crunched numbers in 40-something seconds one time with other programs open, then 58 and 57 seconds with programs closed the next time. The company says this is t...
