YouTube Has A Problem

Image
Hello, this is TheTechBoy with an article.       Hello, as some of you may know, YouTube has had a large redesign. YouTube has more tabs than sort YouTube Shorts, Videos, and Live. The is more rounding on the icons and buttons, and in general, YouTube got an overall facelift. The redesign seems great but.. Source:  unsplash.com/@christianw                                                      There Is A Problem        YouTube does not allow searching from the oldest to the newest videos anymore, without any hacky workarounds. This is a major problem. It allows you to see how a creator has progressed from their first video to their most current video. Imagine if you wanted to see how things were five or eight years ago. I really enjoyed this feature. It was for finding unknown conte...

Google Puppy + Kitten Easter Egg

Image
Hello, this is TheTechBoy with a Google Easter Egg.      This week I searched "puppy" and "kitten" on Google. The search reveals information about the animals, but if you click the purple pawprint your computer will make a bark sound, make a paw,  and create a pawprint. Constant clicking will create more paws and paw prints.   Clicking the X Button will create water and the prints and paws will go away.           For kittens, it is the same, but you click an orange button, and instead of barking there is mewing. This is just one of the reasons Google is amazing. Tell me in the comments if google does this with other animals?     Tech Talk To You Later!!

Vont Bluetooth Headset Review and Unboxing

Image
Hello, this is TheTechBoy with a review of the Vont Bluetooth headset.           The Vont Bluetooth headset retails for 22.09 USD. It charges over a Micro USB cable that is included in the box. The is a QR code in the box that takes you to a user guide. The headset is not connected to the Internet, and cannot be connected to the Vont Smart Home application. The headset is not designed to listen to music but to give voice calls.  However, some people may listen to something while working which you can do on this. For audio samples please listen to TheTechBoy Podcast EP 9 which was recorded with the headset.  Design:      Source Vont.com Fair Use  The first thing I said when I got the package was that it was very light. It is very light and it stays on my head way better than my Sony headphones. It is only 1.44 ounces.  It has some pressure on the ear, and can be uncomfortable to wear after long periods of time; fortunatel...

Can You Install the YouVersion Bible App on Windows 11

Image
Hello, this is TheTechBoy with a special article.       As some of you may know, Microsoft announced that the Windows 11 operating system can install Android applications. However, the only official way is to install the applications from the Amazon Application store.          I installed the Amazon Application Store. After signing into the store, I searched for the YouVersion Bible Application and I found it. I installed it, and the Windows Subsystem on Android (WSA) will start and after a little wait, the application will open. If you opened the application recently and then closed it, it will load quickly.        The You Version Bible Application is slightly different on the Amazon Application store. For instance, the application does not allow sign-in with Google, but if you use the sign-in with email function, and use the same email as your Google Account, your Bible Account activity will sync. This means that your da...

Hello, this is TheTechBoy with This Week In TheTechBoy.        This week I got a bladeless neck cooler to test. A review of it will be coming soon, but a super quick unboxing video is below.     Five Reasons Why YouTube is not Social Media: TheTechBoy Unpopular Opinion      The debate is on. Is YouTube social media or is it something else? I do not think it is social media, and I have five reasons. Leave a comment below to foster an online discussion.  This week we also had a special guest come on a different edition of the Podcast. This person is switching to a Pixel 7 Pro from his iPhone 12. (Great trade-in). Watch me discuss tech with another techie here.

Five Reasons Why YouTube is not Social Media: TheTechBoy Unpopular Opinion:

Image
Hello, this is TheTechBoy with an Unpopular Opinion. YouTube is not social media. I have five points about why and will explain each point fully.   Source: unsplash.com/@christianw Comments under Videos are Text Only and Do Not Contain Images. In social networks, you can add more to comments than text and an emoticon. This is because social media is designed to connect people with each other, not to give feedback and metrics on a video.    YouTube is video/audio only. (Not including community posts. We will get to that.) Social media allows users to post images, live locations, and other non-videos.   Technically you could post an image to a YouTube video, and play some audio behind it, (or no audio) but that is not the same as posting an image to Instagram.    Monetization is Easier   TickTock monetization requires a user to have be at least eighteen years old, have 10,000 followers, have 1,000 views on videos in thirty days, and ...

Hello, this is TheTechBoy with a recap of what happened in TheTechBoy this week and the podcast. Unfortunately, the podcast episode with my special guest audio did not record, so today's Podcast is only three minutes. I am a Teenager I Do not use TickTock: Using it to Replace Web Search is a Bad Idea !!      TickTock is a social media application that I do not use. Retevis RA19: Down the Street, Around the Corner

Image
Hello, this is TheTechBoy with a review of the Retevis RA19. Overview:     These walkie-talkies feature Bluetooth headsets, 22 channels, and 154 subchannels. The walkie-talkies feature 9 levels of VOX (Voice Activation). The walkie-talkies come with two micro-USB cables a user manual, and a charging dock. Because the walkie-talkies can also be powered by batteries, they also come with backplates. Each walkie-talkie is sold separately.   Setup:     The walkie-talkies are very easy to set up. The rechargeable battery pack is packaged separately because the walkie-talkies can accept Double A batteries. After snapping the batteries on the back of the walkie-talkies, I just have to snap the clip onto the walkie-talkies. That completes the setup of the walkie-talkie. Pairing Bluetooth seems simple, but it takes a long time to pair with the walkie-talkie. The charging dock is easy to set up, but you have to charge your own charging brick.  Build Quality: ...

Pixel 7 Reaction: Google Remembers about Phones are Made for Calling

Image
Hello, this is TheTechBoy with a recap of the Pixel 7 event.  Google launched the Pixel Watch. The Pixel Watch is running Wear OS, and has a 4G LTE antenna in the phone. It also integrates with FitBit, and of course, integrates with Pixel devices. The bezeless look of the device may look interesting, but I have to wonder about the durability of the glass. UPDATE: After watching a MKBHD video the watch does have bezels. This watch will cost 349.99 dollars or 399.99 for the 4G version. Source: Google Store FairUse    Pixel 7: The phones look interesting enough. Google Pixel phones have a unique design. The presentation actually placed an emphasis on call quality. Call. Quality. 🖁 It uses AI from the Tensor Chip to suppress background noise and isolate your UPDATE: the callers voice (TheVerge and Reddit). I liked the presentation. There were some sneaky Apple jokes, and an emphasis on privacy and security, and Google stressed the reason to get Pixels: feature drops and AI ...

I am a Teenager I Do not use TikTok: Using it to Replace Web Search is a Bad Idea

Image
Hello, this is TheTechBoy with a response to the state of search right now.  Update: Spelling of TikTok.      Headlines from major tech publications have shown that among Gen Z iPhone usage is very high higher than ever and that Google search is being replaced, with TikTok rising . I am in that demographic, but I defy every single one of those trends. Because of these reasons (and the view count) I have decided to write about it.    1. I have an Android and am interested in Old OSes like Sybian, BlackBerry, and Windows Phone.  2. I do not have personal social media including TikTok.        Beginning:   TikTok is a video platform. Sure you can get some search results, but detailed information cannot be acquired in a short video clip. A deep search cannot be done from TikTok. For example, if you want to find only PDFs on Google Search, you can do an advanced search.  Source: pexels.com/@cottonbro/     Ea...
