Heard and Shared: Spotify Introduces Messages, a New Way to Share What You Love

Image
Newsroom Article Edited With Ai:       Recommendations have always been central to Spotify’s experience. Every month, millions of songs, podcasts, and audiobooks are passed between friends and family, proving that word of mouth remains one of the most powerful tools for discovery. Now, Spotify is taking that sharing to the next level with the launch of Messages—a new in-app feature that creates a dedicated space for recommendations.      Starting this week, Messages will begin rolling out to Free and Premium users aged 16 and older in select markets on mobile devices. A Dedicated Space for Sharing       Until now, Spotify content was shared across dozens of platforms—from Instagram Stories to WhatsApp chats. Messages brings those conversations directly into Spotify, making it easier than ever to recommend a song for a road trip, swap podcasts with a parent, or share an audiobook for book club. For artists, authors, and creators, this als...

This is Getting Ridiculous

Image
This was my reaction to the rumored Google–Perplexity deal, in which AI company Perplexity offered to buy Google Chrome for $34.5 billion at the same time the DOJ is trying to force Google to sell Chrome. This is a bad deal for multiple reasons. First of all, the DOJ should not be forcing Google to sell Chrome. Chrome does not have a monopoly over the browser market. The browser that comes preinstalled on 80% of desktops worldwide is Microsoft Edge — and it still gets ignored. Microsoft literally has to beg users to stick with Edge. Every time someone types “Google” or “Chrome” into Edge, it throws up ads telling you to use Bing, Copilot, and Edge… and people still click away. The free market has decided, overwhelmingly, that they want Chrome. The DOJ should not punish companies for being successful. Perplexity, of course, wants Chrome for the user base — despite having just released its own Chromium-based AI browser, Comet. And while Perplexity’s offer massively undervalues Chr...

We Need a Third Network.

Image
In a recent podcast episode I said, “It's time that we return back to…the methods of communication and information gathering other than just you know the internet. The internet is great. I'm all for the internet. I'm all for cell phones but… we need to have of course a third option.” The internet is amazing, it is integrated in so many things, not just cellphones, TV’s, cars, and of course computers, but more essential services as well. T he internet is amazing—it’s integrated into so many things, not just cell phones, TVs, cars, and computers, but also essential services. Your grocery store’s POS (point-of-sale) system, fleet management (GPS), security cameras, and even landline phones all now rely on the internet, or at the very least Wi-Fi, to function. I’m not even referring to computing’s overreliance on web applications—where a connection is required to get anything done—but the deeper fact that the tech behind the tech is now internet-reliant.  ...

I'm a Fan of this YouTube Feature

Image
Google Gemini has rolled out into my YouTube feed… and I’m impressed. Google’s answer to ChatGPT has often left a lot to be desired. While it’s solid at image generation (except in the hair department) and coding, it still falls short in casual chatting and research—areas where ChatGPT remains better in my opinion. ChatGPT also offers an “ incognito ” mode and allows chats without an account, which Gemini does not.      Gemini has been integrated into Google Search, with mixed reactions. Some people say it gives inaccurate results, but in my testing it seems fine and is a nice upgrade to Google Overviews. It even has a Perplexity-esque AI mode, though it’s not as in-depth or responsive as it could be. Beyond search, Gemini has been woven into other Google services like Google Messages—with mixed success. But its integration into YouTube? EXCELLENT.      For years, people have been asking Google to make YouTube searc...

The Stupid Stupid Texas Cellphone Ban

Image
As some of you may have heard, the great state of Texas, where TheTechBoy Media is based out of, has essentially banned cellphones in public schools. TheTechBoy Media is a teen-first brand, declaring parental control applications “essentially malware,” calling privacy/teen phones “rip-offs and scams,” and forging into the teen media space. It is the position of TheTechBoy Media that this ban is a stupid, stupid law.      The ban essentially bans cellphones in school full stop, with limited health and safety exceptions that we will not be covering. According to the text of the bill, which in a first draft almost banned cellphones at football games (which is not very Texan of them), this ban does not just apply to “smartphones” but “telephone, cell phone such as a smartphone or flip phone, tablet, smartwatch, radio device, paging device, or any other electronic [telecommunications] device capable of telecommunication or digital communication.”  ...

Samsung Teams Up with Netflix for Exclusive KPop Demon Hunters Galaxy Theme

SEOUL, South Korea — August 13, 2025 — Samsung Electronics has announced a special collaboration with Netflix to launch a limited-time KPop Demon Hunters theme collection for Galaxy smartphones. Starting today, Galaxy users can download the themed collection for free through the Galaxy Store. The set includes a special lock screen, home screen, always-on display, phone and messaging screens, and custom icons — all inspired by the vibrant visual style of the hit animated film. The collection features eleven designs in total: one spotlighting the fictional K-pop group HUNTRIX, and ten character-based wallpapers showcasing fan-favorite heroes Rumi, Zoey, Jinu, Derpy, and Sussie. Each theme is crafted to give Galaxy devices a cohesive, immersive look while maintaining Samsung’s signature performance and usability standards. “By partnering with Netflix, we’re expanding content-based experiences that enrich everyday life for Galaxy users,” said Samsung in a statement. “We’ll continue seeking...

Land Air Sea GPS Tracker Review

Image
I recently needed a GPS tracker for a sting operation ( Operation Peace on Earth ) in which I would place a tracker on a bag in hopes it would get stolen.      My first reaction when seeing this tracker was, “It’s bigger than I thought.” It’s about three inches wide, one inch deep, and circular—so not exactly covert if you’re trying to track a person. It’s clearly designed for larger objects such as cars. Still, it was small enough to fit inside my box and could easily be used to track bags or be hidden inside a larger stuffed animal. The hockey-puck-sized device charges via micro-USB and has some LEDs on the dome-shaped top. On the bottom, there’s a QR code that allows you to pair the device with the SilverCloud app. According to the Play Store, the app has compatibility issues with the Galaxy S24 Ultra running One UI 7, but in my experience, it ran well enough. The app is simple—allowing you to turn the lights on or off, see the tracker on a map...

OpenAI Launches GPT-5, Its Smartest and Most Capable AI Yet (per ChatGPT)

Image
OpenAI released GPT-5 yesterday and to test it out I had it write an article about itslef, based on the research at this link. I then prompted it to make the 'listicle' it wrote more like an article. Here is the article in full.  OpenAI has unveiled GPT-5 , calling it the company’s “smartest, fastest, most useful” AI model so far. The release marks a major leap in artificial intelligence capabilities, with improvements across reasoning, factual accuracy, coding, health advice, and creative expression. Available immediately to all ChatGPT users—with varying access levels depending on subscription—GPT-5 represents a unification of OpenAI’s previous models into a single, adaptable system. One Model, Multiple Modes Unlike past versions, GPT-5 operates as a unified system . It includes: A fast-response model for everyday questions. GPT-5 Thinking , a deeper reasoning mode for complex problems. A real-time router that decides which mode to use based on the ...

ChatGPT has a weird bug in its Incognito mode.

Image
Hello, this is TheTechBoy with a quick tech update!      ChatGPT has a weird bug in its Incognito mode. Incognito mode is activated by tapping the chat icon in the upper right corner. This feature ensures that your chats are not saved to your account or used to train ChatGPT's models . However, it’s worth noting that chats can still be saved in OpenAI's internal logs , so it's not truly private.      Now here's the strange part: when using the ChatGPT app on Android —specifically with the Samsung Keyboard —there’s a noticeable glitch in Incognito mode. The keyboard becomes very laggy, and the haptics start acting up. Oddly enough, this issue doesn’t seem to occur in regular (non-incognito) mode. It also doesn’t happen as much when using other keyboards.      So… what's going on? Why is Incognito mode causing this strange behavior? Is it a bug in the app? A compatibility issue with Samsung's keyboard? Either way, it’s something worth in...

How I made the Mia68gd HQ. (Picskit replace)

Image
As some of you may know from podcast episodes for the past few months, we have been talking about our 'allies' Mi6/Ai8 as well as others. This all culminated in my 3D base image here.       Now, the base was simple. I used Room Planner , which I have referenced here to make the 3D design; however, making the flag was a bit complex. I wanted it to be on a stand like this American flag, and a cursory look didn't find any web tools that could do that.       So I took the Snapchat logo and duplicated it multiple times in PicsKit to have an Instagram story image and saved that to my phone. Next, download your American flag, separate it from the background in your gallery or lasso cut it, and import it into PicsKit.     Next, click the image in the box and click duplicate, and make sure the image is aligned perfectly with the background. Then crop it so that only the flag is still there (eraser tool), and then c...
